Abstract

Circuit for operating a magnoelastic sensor, which decreases the dependence of the sensor signal (34) on the distance between the sensor coil (16) and object to be measured (10). The sensor coil (16) is complemented with a capacitor (30) and an attenuating resistor (32) to form an oscillating circuit with adjustable attenuation. By a suitable choice of the resistance of the attenuating resistor (32), the inductivity of the sensor coil (16), the capacitance of the capacitor (30), as well as of the frequency (f) of the power source (20) required for operation, the circuit can be tuned in such a manner that the distance (14) between the sensor coil (16) and the object to be measured (10) has virtually no longer any effect on the sensor signal (34). The circuit facilitates operation of a magneto-elastic sensor, in particular determination of the state of tension of a moving object to be measured.

Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention is based on a circuit arrangement for operation a magnetoelastic sensor according to the genus Hauptan saying. Ferromagnetic materials, especially amorphous metals or nickel iron alloys, change their permeability in the rich in which tensile or compressive forces act on them. This so-called called magnetoelastic effect is used to measure forces and Torques used. The change in permeability of the measurement object is detected by a sensor coil that is attached so close to the measurement object is that there is magnetic coupling.

From the patent application DE-P 35 34 460.1 is a circuit order to operate such a magnetoelastic sensor be knows. An AC voltage generator feeds a voltage divider circuit resulting from the series connection of a resistor and the sensor coil is made with an alternating current Frequency. The voltage at the sensor coil is detected and off rated. A change in the permeability of the material of the measurement object results in a voltage change on the sensor coil, which is a measure represents for the mechanical influence on the measurement object. The  Voltage at the sensor coil depends not only on the permeability of the measurement object but also from the distance between the sensor coil and the test object, since the magnetic coupling changes. A clear force measurement therefore sets a constant distance between sensor coil and target. During construction a magnetoelastic sensor requires considerable effort be driven to change the distance between the sensor coil and Avoid measuring object or keep very tight tolerances. A Sensor design that largely respects this point of view considered, is known for example from DE-OS 34 36 643.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

The circuit arrangement according to the invention has the opposite part that a change in distance between the sensor coil and the DUT has almost no influence on the sensor signal. The Sensor coil is supplemented with a capacitor to form a resonant circuit, whose damping is determined by a damping resistor. A AC voltage generator is for the energy supply of the oscillation circle provided. The resistance value of the damping resistance, the inductance of the sensor coil, the capacitance of the capacitor so such as the frequency of the AC voltage generator are so on agreed otherwise that a change in distance given Given ob ject material has almost no influence on the sensor signal.

The measures listed in the subclaims provide for partial further developments of the scarf specified in the main claim arrangement possible.

The resonant circuit can be a series or parallel resonant circuit be educated. It when the damping is particularly advantageous resistive in series to a parallel resonant circuit consisting of Capacitor and sensor coil, is switched. With this circuit  variant is a possibly required adaptation resistance between between the resonant circuit and the AC voltage generator sig.

The sensor lying on the sensor coil is expediently signal rectified and in a subsequent sieve circuit in converted a DC voltage into a subsequent DC voltage amplifier is amplified to suitable values.

It is favorable if between the DC voltage amplifier and the Screening a low-pass arrangement is provided.

The circuit arrangement according to the invention brings great savings in the sensor design, since precision mechanical parts are omitted len. In a simple way, the torque detection is rotating Share possible. So far, several sensors were used to carry out the This measurement is required.

Further details and advantageous developments of the inventions Invention circuit arrangement result from the following Be spelling.

FIG. 3 shows a functional relationship between the frequency ( f ) of the alternating voltage generator 22 and the sensor signal 34 (U). A different distance 14 between the sensor coil 16 and the measurement object 10 and a different train force 12 are provided as parameters. The two curves 60 , 62 are based on a different distance 14 of the measuring coil 16 from the measuring object 10 , where no tensile force 12 is exerted on the measuring object 10 . The curve 60 is based on a greater distance 14 than the curve 62 . The two curves 60 , 62 intersect at an intersection 64. The two curves 66 , 68 are obtained when a tensile force 12 is exerted on the measurement object 10 . The curve 66 is based on a greater distance 14 than the curve 68 . The two curves 66, 68 intersect at an intersection 70 . The two intersection points 64 , 70 lie almost one above the other in the ordinate direction. They are at a frequency F of the alternating voltage generator 22 .

On the basis of measurement processes, which are based on different distances 14 and different tensile forces 12 , the effect of the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 2 is explained in more detail using the curves shown in FIG. 3:

The AC voltage energy source 20 generates a current flow in the sensor coil 16 . The magnetic alternating field generated by the current-carrying winding of the sensor coil 16 detects the measurement object 10 , so that the electrical properties of the sensor coil 16 are influenced by the measurement object 10 . First, the permeability of the measurement object 10 determines the inductance of the measurement coil 16 . Since the permeability of ferromagnetic materials changes under tensile or compressive load and under torsional stress, the mechanical stress state of the test object 10 can be measured without contact. In this case, the measurement object 10 can be made entirely of ferromagnetic material, for example, but it is also possible to apply a thin layer of ferromagnetic material to the surface of a non-ferromagnetic part. The Indukti tivity of the sensor coil 16 is also a function of the ex state of the coil 16 from the target 10th A smaller distance results in a higher inductance.

Beide Effekte vergrößern sich mit kleiner werdendem Abstand 14.The electrical properties of the measuring coil 16 are determined by a second effect. The alternating magnetic field induces eddy currents in the metal surface of the measurement object 10 , which cause the inductance to decrease. The influence of the eddy currents is also a function of the distance of the sensor coil 16 from the measurement object 10 . Both effects increase as the distance 14 decreases .

The curve 60 shown in FIG. 3 is associated with a certain distance 14 between the sensor coil 16 and the measurement object 10 of, for example, 0.6 mm. The amplitude of the alternating voltage sensor signal 34 is shown as a function of the frequency f of the alternating voltage generator 22 . The test object 10 is initially relieved, we ke no tensile force 12th When a tensile force 12 occurs , the curve 60 transitions into curve 66 , the distance 14 still being 0.6 mm. The maximum of curve 66 is shifted toward a higher frequency f compared to the maximum of curve 60 . A tensile force 12 acting on the measurement object 10 causes a reduction in permeability in the example shown. Depending on the material, an increase in permeability may also result.

The two following measurement processes, the results of which show the two curves 62 , 68 , are carried out at a smaller distance 14 of, for example, 0.2 mm between the coil 16 and the measurement object 10 . The smaller distance 14 increases the influence of the eddy currents and at the same time increases the influence of the permeability of the test object 10 on the measuring coil 16 . The result is curve 62 , the maximum of which is shifted towards a lower frequency f than that of curve 60 . The two curves 60 , 62 have an intersection 64 at a specific frequency F. The action of a tensile force 12 leads, starting from curve 62 , to a result which curve 68 shows. The tensile force 12 reduces the permeability of the measurement object 10 , as a result of which the maximum of curve 68 is shifted towards a higher frequency f compared to the maximum of curve 62 . The curve 68 intersects the curve 66 at the intersection 70 , which is almost at the frequency F.

The curves 60 , 62 , 66 , 68 , which are a function of the frequency f , show that at a certain frequency F, the height of the sensor signal 34 almost only from the mechanical stress state of the measuring object 10 , but not from the distance 14 between the sensor coil 16 and the measurement object 10 depends. The two intersection points 64 and 70 are not exactly, but only approximately at the determined frequency F.

The positions of the intersections 64 , 70 depend on the material properties of the measurement object 10 , which are predefined. The suitable choice of the measuring frequency f , which becomes the value F , the inductivity of the measuring coil 16 , the capacitance of the capacitor 30 and the resistance value of the damping resistor 32 largely eliminates the dependency on the measurement result. The experimentally found values are fixed and apply to a specific material of the measurement object 10 .

The sensor signal 34 , which is present as an AC voltage with the determined frequency F , is rectified with the diode 36 . The filter element 38 smoothes the rectified, pulsating AC voltage. The filter capacitor 40 is supplemented by the parallel ge bleeder 42nd Without leakage resistor 42 , only a peak value detection would be possible. A low ripple of the signal eliminates the low-pass filter 46 , which consists of a resistor-capacitor combination 48 , 50 . The DC voltage occurring after the low-pass filter is amplified in an amplifier arrangement 52 to a desired signal level, so that the signal voltage assumes a proportional or almost proportional value to the sensor voltage 34 . An inverting amplifier circuit with an operational amplifier 54 is used , the gain factor of which is set in a known manner with the two resistors 56 and 58 .

Instead of the parallel resonant circuit shown in FIG. 2, consisting of the measuring coil 16 and the capacitor 30 , it is also possible to use a series resonant circuit. Even with a series resonant circuit, the sensor signal 34 is tapped at the measuring coil 16 .

The damping resistor 32 can also be connected in parallel to the measuring coil 16 in the parallel resonance circuit shown in FIG. 2 if the AC voltage energy source 20 is formed as a current source. The circuit variant shown in Fig. 2, in which the damping resistor 32 is connected in series with the parallel resonant circuit, has the advantage that the AC voltage energy source 20 can be designed as an AC generator 32 with an internal resistor 24 . This version largely corresponds to the practical circumstances.
