Description
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Resonator gemäß dem Oberbegriff des
Patentanspruchs 1.
Resonatoren dieser Art sind Metallabschnitte oder -sektoren,
die so bemessen sind, daß sie als λ/2-Resonatoren schwin
gen, wenn sie mit einer bestimmten Schallfrequenz beaufschlagt
werden, die sie vom Eingang zu einem gegenüberliegenden
Ausgang in Längsrichtung durcheilt. In Abhängigkeit vom
Verwendungszweck bestehen diese Resonatoren meist aus Aluminium
und Titan, weniger häufig aus Stahl und Monel. Eine ziemlich
umfassende Beschreibung der verschiedenen Arten von Resonatoren
und ihrer Auslegung findet sich im Buch von Julian R.
Frederick: "Ultrasonic Engineering" (Ultraschalltechnik),
John Wiley & Sons, Inc., New York, N. Y. (1965), S. 87-103.
Werden übereinanderliegende Textilschichten oder -lagen mit
Ultraschallenergie versiegelt oder verklebt, so werden soge
nannte Stabresonatoren verwendet. Diese Resonatoren weisen
einen rechteckigen Querschnitt auf und besitzen meist eine
Querschnittsverengung in der Knotenzone des Resonators, um
am Ausgang einige gegenüber dem Eingang erhöhte Bewegungs
amplitude zu schaffen, mit welcher die mechanischen Schwin
gungen angelegt werden. Auf diese Weise dient der schwingen
ähnliche Resonator nicht nur dazu, Schwingungen von einer
Quelle an ein Werkstück zu übertragen, sondern auch als
mechanischer Verstärker der Schwingungsamplitude.
Ein bekannter Klingenresonator, von dem die Erfindung ausgeht,
ist in der US-Patent
schrift 31 13 225 gezeigt, und die Anwendung eines solchen
Resonators auf das Verschweißen übereinanderliegender Tex
tilschichten mit Ultraschallenergie ist in der US-Patent
schrift 37 33 238 beschrieben. Eine gleichartige Ultraschall
verschweißungsanlage ist in der US-Patentschrift 35 62 041
dargestellt, wobei die Herstellung von Hemdärmelmanschetten
und dgl. erläutert wird.
Die Schwierigkeit bei diesen Einrichtungen besteht darin,
daß die Frontfläche dieser Hörner, die eine Breite von
4 Zoll (ca. 100 mm) bis 8 Zoll (ca. 200 mm) oder mehr haben
kann, eine ungleichmäßige Schwingungsamplitude aufweist.
Diese Schwingungsamplitude besitzt normalerweise die Soll
amplitude im Mittelbereich des Resonators, fällt jedoch ge
gen die Seitenkanten hin deutlich ab. Beim Verschweißen von
Kunststoffolien und Textilien ist eine verhältnismäßig hohe
Bewegungsamplitude erforderlich, normalerweise in einem Be
reich von 0,003-0,005 Zoll (ca. 0,08-0,13 mm) Ver
setzung von Spitze-Spitze und, da sich die Ultraschallver
schweißung bei weichen oder biegsamen Stoffen auf die Fläche
direkt unterhalb des Resonators beschränkt, kann die Ver
schweißung des Stoffes unterhalb des Mittelteils des Resonators
einwandfrei, jedoch gegen die Seitenkanten des Resonators
hin völlig unbefriedigend sein.
Es wurden früher Versuche gemacht, einen rechteckigen Resonator,
vor allem einen Klingenresonator, zu entwickeln, der
längs der gesamten Ausgangsoberfläche eine praktisch gleich
mäßige Ausgangsbewegungsenergie abgibt. Eine der frühesten
Bemühungen bestand in der Anbringung von Schlitzen, welche
den Knotenbereich des Resonators überqueren und dadurch
Poisson-Kupplung unterbrechen (siehe oben erwähntes Patent
No. 31 13 225). Weitere Verbesserungen wurden nötig, die in
der US-Patentschrift 41 31 505 und in der deutschen Patent
schrift P 23 43 605 veröffentlicht sind.
Die US-Patentschrift 41 31 505 zeigt den Einsatz einer peri
pheren Nut im unteren Teil (Ausgangsteil) des Resonators,
wobei diese Nut auf runde und rechteckige Vollresonatoren an
gewandt wird. Die deutsche Patentschrift P 23 43 605 behan
delt insbesondere klingenförmige Resonatoren und fügt abge
stimmte λ/2-Resonatoren an den Seitenteilen des Resonators
hinzu, um eine im wesentlichen gleichmäßige Bewegungs
ausgangsschwingung längs der gesamten Resonatorabgabefläche
vom Mittelteil bis hin zu den Kanten zu gewinnen. Bei einer
angenommenen Frequenz von 20 kHz und einem Werkstoff wie
Aluminium, Stahl oder Titan ist der λ/2-Resonator ca.
5¼ Zoll (ca. 134 mm) lang. Daher wird dem normalerweise
sehr schweren Resonator noch erhebliches Gewicht und Höhe
zugefügt, indem die beiden zusätzlichen λ/2-Resonatoren
in "Rucksackweise" der Eingangsfläche des Resonators auf
geladen werden (siehe Fig. 4 der deutschen Patentschrift
P 23 43 605).
Die Aufgabe der Erfindung besteht darin, einen
Resonator, hauptsächlich mit einem
rechteckigen oder klingenförmigen Querschnitt zu schaffen, der eine im we
sentlichen gleichmäßige Bewegungsausgangsenergie oder Schwingungs
amplitude auf einer Ausgangsfläche abgibt.
Diese Aufgabe ist erfindungsgemäß durch die Merkmale
des Patentanspruchs 1 gelöst. Diese Ver
besserung wird durch eine leichte Erhöhung der Masse des
Resonators an seinem Seitenteil erreicht, wodurch die nor
malerweise niedrigere Schwingungsamplitude des Resonators
gegen seine Kante hin erhöht wird. Die Schwingungsamplitude
an der Ausgangsfläche gegen
über der Schwingungsamplitude an der Eingangsfläche weist
grob das Massenverhältnis von m₁/m₂ auf, wobei m₁ gleich ist
der Masse des Resonators von der Eingangsfläche zur Knoten
ebene und m₂ die Masse des Resonators von der Knotenebene
zur Ausgangsfläche. Wenn ein Resonator aus vielen parallelen
Massenschnitten von der Eingangsfläche zur Ausgangsfläche
besteht, so ist es offensichtlich, daß durch eine geringe
Erhöhung der Masse an den Seitenteilen der Eingangsfläche
des Resonators die Verringerung der Schwingungsamplitude
an der Ausgangsfläche korrigiert werden kann. Die wirkliche
Erhöhung der Masse ist verhältnismäßig gering und wird leicht
durch Verstärkungsplättchen erreicht, die einstückig mit der
Eingangsfläche des Resonators ausgeformt sind.
Der Resonator eignet sich be
sonders zum Verbinden von Kunststoffolien und Textilien
durch Ultraschallenergie.
Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung sind in den
Unteransprüchen gekennzeichnet.
Die Erfindung ist nachstehend näher erläutert.

In Fig. 1 ist ein klingenförmiger Resonator gezeigt, der
herkömmlicherweise zum Verschweißen und Verbinden von Kunst
stoffen mit hochfrequenter Schall- oder Ultraschallenergie
verwendet wird. Die normalen Frequenzen liegen im Bereich
zwischen 10 und 50 kHz, wobei die meisten Arbeitsgänge bei
20 oder 25 kHz ausgeführt werden. Der normalerweise aus
Aluminium, Titan oder Stahl gefertige Resonator 10 weist
eine Eingangsfläche 12 auf, die an ihrem Mittelteil mit
einem Stahlzapfen oder -bolzen 14 versehen ist, der mit
einer Quelle für hochfrequente Schwingungen 16 in Verbindung
steht, die als elektroakustische Wandler oder Umsetzer be
kannt ist, der durch hochfrequente elektrische Energie be
aufschlagt wird und mechanische Schwingungen in Abhängigkeit
von der anliegenden elektrischen Spannung erzeugt. Ein für
die Erfindung geeigneter Umsetzer ist in der US-Patent
schrift 33 28 610 beschrieben. Der Resonator 10 ist als
λ/2-Resonator für Schall von einer vorgegebenen Frequenz
(z. B. 20 kHz) von der Eingangsfläche 12 zur gegenüberliegen
den Ausgangsfläche 18 ausgelegt. Bei dieser Ausführung sind
die Eingangsfläche 12 und die Ausgangsfläche 18 an den ent
sprechenden Schwingungsbauchbereichen der Längsbewegung ange
ordnet, wobei ein Knotenbereich 20 dazwischenliegt. Der
Resonator verstärkt die anstehenden Eingangsschwingungen
kraft der Veränderung der Querschnittsfläche von der Eingangs
fläche zur Ausgangsfläche. Wie allgemein bekannt ist, erfolgt
die Querschnittsänderung im allgemeinen im Knotenbereich 20
der Längsschwingung. Während des Betriebs des Resonators ist
die Ausgangsfläche 18 einer durch den Teil 22 angezeigten
hin- und hergehenden Bewegung unterworfen. Um eine hohe
Spannungskonzentration zu vermeiden, erfolgt die Veränderung
des Querschnittes nicht plötzlich, sondern über eine mit
entsprechendem Radius versehene Fläche 20.
Der Resonator, dessen Breite an seiner Ausgangsfläche 18
ca. 150 mm oder mehr sein kann, ist mit zwei
Schlitzen 24 versehen, um die Poisson-Kupplung zu unterbre
chen (vgl. US-Patentschrift 31 13 225). Diese Schlitze
ragen durch den gesamten Knotenbereich 20 hindurch und hören
kurz vor der Eingangsfläche 12 und der Ausgangsfläche 18 auf.
Die beiden Schlitze 24 sind ganz allgemein so angeordnet, daß
der Resonator einen Mittelteil zwischen den Schlitzen und
zwei Seitenteile auf jeder Seite der Schlitze aufweist, wobei
alle Teile von gleicher Größe sind.
Fig. 2 zeigt ein Kurvenbild der Schwingungsamplitude auf
der Ausgangsfläche. Die Kurve zeigt die maximale momentane
Versetzung der Frontfläche 18 gegenüber einem geometrischen
Ort auf der Frontfläche. Die Zeichnung zeigt, daß gegen die
Seitenkanten des Resonators hin eine deutliche Verringerung
der Schwingungsamplitude auftritt. In Abhängigkeit von der
speziellen Auslegung des Resonators kann die Verringerung
der Schwingungsamplitude in der Größenordnung von 50% liegen.
In Fig. 3 ist durch gestrichelte Linien angezeigt, daß der
Resonator eine unendliche Vielzahl von nebeneinanderliegenden
schmalen Längsschnitten 30a-30e aufweisen kann. Wie
bekannt ist und bereits erwähnt wurde, ist die Schwingungs
amplitude an der Ausgangsfläche gegenüber der an der Ein
gangsfläche anstehenden Schwingung eine Funktion der Quer
schnittänderung des Knotenbereiches und damit eine Funktion
des Massenverhältnisses m₁/m₂, worin m₁ die Masse eines
entsprechenden Abschnitts 30a-30e von der Eingangsfläche
zur Knotenebene und m₂ die Masse des entsprechenden Ab
schnittes von der Knotenebene zur Ausgangsfläche ist. Daraus
geht hervor, daß durch eine Erhöhung der Masse m₁ der Seiten
teile des Resonators eine Verringerung der Schwingungsamplitude
nach Fig. 2 kompensiert werden kann.
Der verbesserte Resonator 34 der Fig. 4 weist eine zusätzli
che Masse von Auflagen 36 auf, die der Ein
gangsfläche 12 an den Seitenteilen hinzugefügt sind. Beim
bevorzugten Ausführungsbeispiel sind die Schultern oder Auf
lagen 36 einstückig mit dem Resonator ausgeformt, d. h. die Ein
gangsfläche des Resonators ist abgestuft ausgebildet. Die
Schultern erstrecken sich von den Seitenkanten bis zu einem
Punkt, der sich mit der Außenkante des entsprechenden
Schlitzes 24 deckt (Fig. 4). Offensichtlich ist eine kleine
Abweichung vom bevorzugten Ausführungsbeispiel nicht kritisch.
Die durch die beschriebene Abänderung erzielte Verbesserung
ergibt sich aus der folgenden Tabelle:

Bei obigem Resonator beträgt die
Gleichmäßigkeit der Ausgangsschwingung 86,6%.
Derselbe Resonator mit Auflagen von ca. 3,17 mm Höhe erreicht eine
Gleichmäßigkeit der Ausgangsschwingung von 88,7%. Bei einer Höhe
der Auflagen von ca. 6,35 mm beträgt die
Gleichmäßigkeit der Ausgangsschwingung 91,5% und
derselbe Resonator mit Auflagen von ca. 12,7 mm Höhe
hat eine Gleichmäßigkeit der Ausgangsschwingung von 98,3%,
worin die Gleichmäßigkeit der Ausgangsschwingung dem Verhältnis
entspricht.
Es sei bemerkt, daß der Zusatz der Schultern oder Auflagen
eine geringe Änderung der Hornhöhe mit sich bringt, wodurch
entweder empirisch oder durch Simulierung im Rechner eine
Feinabstimmung des Resonators erforderlich wird.
Auch ein Resonator mit einer Breite von ca. 228,6 mm, der
für einen Betrieb bei 20 kHz ausgelegt ist und ohne Schul
tern, aber sonst wie der vorstehend gezeigte Typ gestaltet
ist, weist eine durchschnittliche Gleichmäßigkeit der Aus
gangsschwingung von 87,2% auf, wobei in der gleichen Ausführung
mit Schultern von ca. 12,7 mm diese Gleichmäßigkeit
auf 93,6% anstieg. Ein Horn von ca. 203,2 mm Breite
verbesserte sich mit Schultern von ca. 4,76 mm Höhe
von 87,7% (ohne Schultern) auf 93,2%.
Wie Fig. 4 zeigt, sind die Schultern einstückig mit dem Resonator
34 ausgeformt. Ein Resonator aus Aluminium kann
beispielsweise auch mit Stahlschultern versehen werden, um
das Massenverhältnis zu vergrößern. Die Schultern oder Auf
sätze müssen innig mit dem Hornkörper verbunden sein, um
mit dem Resonator im Gleichklang zu schwingen. Es sei jedoch
bemerkt, daß die hohen Beschleunigungskräfte am Schwingungs
bauch den Grenzflächen zwischen unähnlichen Metallen erheb
liche Belastungen aufbürden. Daher ist diese wohl durch
führbare Abänderung kein bevorzugtes Ausführungsbeispiel der
Erfindung.
Die zusätzlichen Auflagen ergeben eine verhältnismäßig einfache
Lösung eines bisher schwierigen Problems. Im Ge
gensatz zu bisher vorgeschlagenen Lösungen, besonders im Vergleich
mit einer Lösung mit mindestens zwei Halbwellen-Resonatoren, die erheb
liches Gewicht beitragen und auf die Betriebsfrequenz des
Resonators abgestimmt werden müssen, ist die vorstehend be
schriebene Verbesserung durch eine äußerste Einfachheit ge
kennzeichnet, die nur geringfügige Änderungen am Resonator
herkömmlicher Auslegung erforderlich macht.
Es ist offensichtlich, daß die vorstehend beschriebene Ver
besserung auch auf Resonatoren ohne Verstärkungsfunktion
anwendbar ist, d. h. auf Resonatoren, die ohne Querschnitts
verringerung im Knotenbereich auskommen und somit zur Er
zeugung derselben Schwingungsamplitude auf der Ausgangsfläche
wie auf der Eingangsfläche ausgelegt sind. Auch Resonatoren
dieser Art weisen, wenn sie nicht erfindungsgemäß ab
geändert sind, eine Verringerung der Schwingungsamplitude
gegen den Kantenbereich hin auf, besonders wenn die waage
rechte Breite der Resonatorausgangsfläche vergrößert wird.
Claims (4)
1. Resonator als Halbwellenresonator mit etwa
rechteckigem Querschnitt, mit einer Eingangsfläche für
Ultraschall und einer Ausgangsfläche und mit zwei in einem
gegenseitigen Abstand angeordneten Längsschlitzen, die sich
jeweils von nahe der Eingangsfläche bis nahe der Ausgangs
fläche erstrecken und Poisson-Kupplungen unterbrechen,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Eingangsfläche (12) zu bei
den Seiten der Mitte je eine Auflage (36) trägt, die die
Masse der seitlichen Abschnitte des Resonators gegenüber der
Masse des mittleren Abschnitts erhöhen, um die Bewegungsam
plitude der Schwingung längs der Ausgangsfläche (18) des
Resonators zu vergleichmäßigen.
2. Resonator nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß die Schlitze (24) zwischen den seitlichen, die Auflagen
(36) tragenden Abschnitten und im mittleren Abschnitt des
Resonators verlaufen.
3. Resonator nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekenn
zeichnet, daß zwischen der Eingangsfläche (12) und der
Ausgangsfläche (18) des Resonators eine Querschnittsänderung
(20) vorgesehen ist, um die Schwingungsamplitude an der Aus
gangsfläche (18) zu vergrößern.
4. Resonator nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Auflagen (36) einstückig mit
dem Resonator ausgeformt sind.
