Dosenlicht. Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 2. März 1917 ab.Can light. Patented in the German Empire on March 2, 1917.
The invention relates to such candle lights which are inserted or poured into vessels and be burned down in it.
In general, two types are known, namely canned candles, in which as a result Use of wick holders, the flame burns • over the vessel, and candles in tins without Wick holder ,. in which the flame burns into the vessel following the wick.
ίο Bei der erstgenannten Art von Dosenlichtenίο With the former type of can lights
bestehen Übelstände dadurch, daß diese Ker-. zen für kurze Brennzeiten unbrauchbar sind.there are evils due to the fact that these Ker-. zen are unusable for short burning times.
.If you light such candles, the flame burning on the lamp cover consumes you primarily from the fuel contained in the wick to further fuel in has melted in the vessel and flows to the wick. Will be such a lamp for a short time extinguished after lighting the wick, the fuel was withdrawn, without the heating of the fuel in the can having progressed so far that he became liquid and "could flow to the wick. The consequence of this is that the wick dry, d. H. is without fuel. If you light the lamp again, you will find it Flame in the dry wick does not introduce any fuel and goes out. .
This disadvantage is still adversely affected by cold and frost as well as by some Empty cans where the fuel is deep in the can and therefore removed from it the flame is standing. In these cases it is necessary to heat the fuel until it becomes liquid a longer period of time, so that experience has shown that the light is not extinguished before a burning time of 25 minutes may if it is to remain usable for further use.
In the case of the second type of cans, the flame burns into the vessel according to the wick into it. If the vessel is now made of an opaque material, it exists The problem with the progressive burning down of the light into the vessel the light is blocked by the wall of the vessel and lost to the lighting goes.
Glass vessels that are transparent have the disadvantage that they break easily and also jump through the heat of the flame, so that the light becomes unusable. Also, when the light is partly burnt down, it is difficult to rekindle it because the in The wick deep in the vessel is not easily accessible.
All of these inconveniences are intended to be completely eliminated in the present invention , that the vessels or sheaths to be used with the lights from assembled rings. exist or the walls can be telescoped together.
In the accompanying drawing, some types of these vessels are shown in the sectional views shown.
The base parts are designated with α , the rings of the vessels with b , the melting disks with c, and the strips on the melting disks with d.
In Fig. Ι a vessel is shown in which the vessel rings are nested in a stepped manner are.
Fig. 2 shows a vessel in which the rings stand on top of one another and are glued over are connected to each other with thin paper or the like.
Werden derartige Gefäße in Gebrauch genommen, so werden entsprechend dem Niederbrennen der Kerze die jeweilig oberen RingeFig. 3 shows a vessel in which the rings can be telescoped into one another. If such vessels are used, they are burned down accordingly the respective upper rings of the candle
ίο removed from the vessel (Fig. ι and 2) or the rings are pushed into one another (Fig. 3) so that the flame always protrudes from the vessel.
By eliminating a wick holder and the possibility of increasing the height of the vessel to shorten as necessary, the desired effect of the invention is achieved, because on the one hand the light can be extinguished and re-lit after any short period of use, and on the other hand, the flame is not blocked by the wall of the vessel when it burns down or covered.
In order to prevent the flame from burning into the candle in the case of the large-diameter lights and leaving a wall of fuel, which would also partially mask the flame, a melting disk c is provided, which is placed on the candle or else can be poured into the candle. This ring-shaped disc is made of a thermally conductive material. The ring opening is so wide that the flame can burn freely through it, while strips d on the ring disc protrude into the area of the flame.
Die Wirkungsweise der Schmelzscheibe ist folgende:The function of the melting disk is as follows:
* Anfänglich liegt die Scheibe oben auf der Kerze oder ist oben in die Kerze eingegossen.* Initially, the disc lies on top of the candle or is poured into the top of the candle.
.If the candle is lit, the strips d are heated by the flame and transfer the heat to the remaining parts of the disc. The upper layer of the candle's fuel becomes liquid up to the edge of the candle and finally overflows the melting disk, which is submerged in the liquid fuel mass by its own weight. The connection between the strip d and the flame is then interrupted, and the action of the melting disk ceases. If the upper liquid fuel has been used up after a corresponding time, the strips d again protrude from the fuel mass and again come into the area of the flame heat. The strips d or the melting disk then heats up again, so that the upper fuel layer melts. The formation of a wall is therefore ruled out. The described process repeats itself completely automatically until the whole candle is burned. .
In the telescopic, nestable vessel (Fig. 3), the melting disk are connected to the upper vascular ring and descends with this to the bottom of the vessel down.
