Description
The invention relates to a sterilizable by heating steam container from at least two layers by a sealed seam interconnected plastic material according to the preamble of claim 1.
Plastic containers which are to be sterilized before filling or after filling with medical or technical products, foodstuffs, medicaments or the like are subject to special quality regulations on the one hand, but also to cost or price pressure, especially since reusable use in the Usually not considered. In particular, superheated steam at temperatures of about 130 ° C. is recommended for sterilization, which then also presupposes a corresponding temperature resistance of the plastic material. In the case of containers in which at least two layers of plastic material are connected by means of a sealing seam, generally machines and production techniques based on the good sealability of polyethylene films, outer layers and fibers are available. However, temperature loads of the order of 130 ° C. are critical for various polyethylene materials. In particular, the lower density materials (LDPE) are not to be used for such sterilization temperatures as a unitary film or topsheet. In contrast, high density polyethylene (HDPE) materials have broadly adequate temperature resistance.
Accordingly, containers have already been developed from two plies of sealed HDPE plastic material for superheated steam sterilization. On the one hand, a vapor-permeable fiber material was used, which advantageously also enables sterilization in the closed (and also filled) state. On the other hand, an HDPE film was used which could be easily sealed with the fibrous material layer. However, it has been found that the HDPE sheet material has undesirable processing properties that also severely limit the usefulness of the product. During the manufacture and processing of the HDPE film layer, particles and threads form due to the hardness, brittleness and strength of the material, which also end up in the finished container. Loose particles and threads from the packaging, even if they match the material used with the accepted packaging material, but at the site of sterile packaging goods are at least disturbing, but usually unacceptable.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a Heißdampfsterilisierbaren container without interfering processing waste, especially for disposable packaging, which can be produced inexpensively on conventional production equipment by packaging and sealing and provides a dimensionally stable, disposable or recyclable after use in the usual way or recyclable product.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a container according to the preamble of claim 1, starting with the characterizing features of claim 1.
A key to the special success of the film-material combination is the mixed composition of the film with a minimum of 50%, but usually the vast majority of polypropylene and a relatively small proportion of polyethylene, which, however, as a minor proportion a good sealability with a second polyethylene layer causes. Nevertheless, the mixture surprisingly obtains a temperature resistance for hot steam sterilization, which is above the temperature resistance of films made of a pure PE material. Above all, it is important that the sealing seam holds at sterilization temperatures which are above the softening temperature of the admixed PE fraction (unmixed). So it can be mixed in a low density polyethylene (LDPE). A fundamentally possible use of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) leads to the advantage that the mixture with polypropylene can be processed without interfering waste. It is noteworthy, in fact, that this mixed material does not tend to form particles or threads (whisper) when it is being processed and thus provides a container free from contamination and also to be disposed of as a whole.
The material of the film preferably has a propylene content of 60 to 80 wt.%. In particular, a polypropylene content of 70% has been found to be advantageous.
The polyethylene portion of the film is most preferably a low density polyethylene (LDPE). This PE material is easy to process when assembled as well as sealed, and provides dimensional stability of the container as well as durability of the sealed seam at sterilization temperatures that are inherent to the temperature resistance inherent in the low density polyethylene material.
To produce a container which can be sterilized by superheated steam, the preformed film of a polypropylene-polyethylene mixed material is connected to a ("first") layer made of a fiber material by means of a sealed seam. This fiber material should be at least vapor-permeable in order to facilitate sterilization with hot steam in the open state - with passage through the first layer - and in particular to allow sterilization in the closed state - even with a filling sterilizable Guts -. This fiber material is for reasons of strength, in particular for reasons of temperature resistance in view of the required sterilization temperatures of about 130 ° C, expediently of a high density polyethylene (HDPE). Such a fiber material, in particular formed from fine fibers, can be processed well according to experience, without, for example, during cutting processing waste or the like. Resulting and can be found in the finished product.
The vapor permeability is basically to be achieved with woven fiber layers as well as with random fiber layers (nonwoven). Of particular interest, however, are commercially available materials of random fiber layers having a basis weight of less than 100 g / m 2 , which are laminated on both sides with heat and pressure to a fine-pored surface.
With fine fibers averaging about 4 μm, which can be produced by flash spinning from HDPE material, nonwoven fabrics can be produced, which are then finished on the surfaces with heat and pressure, so that laminated surfaces are formed. Unlaminated inner areas of this fiber layer give the material good flexibility. However, the compacted surfaces may then be limited in permeability to the extent of remaining fine pores to about 20 μm, leaving only a gas permeability. This gives the vapor permeability for sterilization. The material is then but sealed against passage of moisture as well as against the passage of germs or dirt.
In the above-described material pairing with a first layer of vapor-permeable polyethylene fiber material and a second layer of a polypropylene-polyethylene mixed material in foil form a packaging container, such as bags with rectangular outline, with edge-sided seal on production sites in large numbers and inexpensive to manufacture, the otherwise also be used for the processing of plastic films. For a sterilization of the empties, such a bag can be delivered open. But it is also possible to deliver such a bag for sterilization in the filled and closed state.
Another application of such a container is in the form of a disposable glove, such as a sealed seam contour of a mitten or a finger glove. Such a glove is of particular interest if it should not only be sterilized, but also be free of processing particles on the glove material.
