Abstract

本发明涉及地理篱笆领域---提供通过GPS信号指示接收其GPS位置或地址的车辆、其它装置或系统的定位的信息,以便该车辆等未偏离包围其位置的某预定区域的概念---该所谓地理篱笆建立在该车辆或相似物的一个初始地址或位置的周围。
背景

前述的将在车辆上下载的地理篱笆数据的现有传输,要求在通信网络中相当大的带宽以能下载所有新的纬度-经度信息来建立地理篱笆,要求相当大的空中传输时间和密集的消息传送,或者要求经由物理接口直接输入到硬件。的确,为了获取足够的进入车辆硬件的数据以建立一个新的地理篱笆,大量的信息传送是必要的。
按照本发明的技术,通过在车辆自身的固化软件内构造建立新的地理篱笆的能力,以及仅要求来自中心站的命令来建立新的地理篱笆—完全消除现有的从站点发送数据和重新载入这些新的数据到车辆固有硬件的需要,这些问题可以缓解。
举例来说,可能期望移动一个施工设备,比如,蒸汽挖土机,到一个新的位置。一旦该车辆移动,中心站发送一个命令给它,以通过其车载GPS设备确定新的初始位置点或地址,以及在该中心站上登记新的位置。一个随后的命令激活按照本发明的、在该车辆处理设备的固化软件内提供的算法,以在该设备自身内为该选择的地理篱笆计算新的各个数据点--比如,一个在原点位置周围半径为2英里的圆。这完全消除了该中心站发送新的篱笆数据的需要,因为该车辆设备自身现在在自身内部动态地计算该新的地理篱笆参数。
在生产车辆处理单元的时候,地理篱笆的特征是,或者能是预先设置的,无论它是圆、正方形或者诸如近似为圆的六边形或八边形这样的多边形。一旦确定,该单元软件在工作时将为关于该原点或地址的地理篱笆的边界产生新的纬度和经度点。
发明目的
因此,本发明的主要目的是为地理篱笆提供新的和改良的方法及设备,该方法及设备不受现有方法和前述的现有缺点所影响;相反,该方法及装置能够依靠来自远程中心或控制站的命令在车辆自身上动态地建立地理篱笆。
其他和更进一步的目的将在下文说明,而且在附加的权利要求中更具体地描述。

发明的优选实施例的描述
参考图1,所显示的多个不同区域的地理篱笆几何形状建立在中心的车辆原点位置O的周围,其比如为圆形或多边形。根据下面描述的本发明的技术,一旦车辆的GPS接收机确定其原点位置,则用于建立边界的数据点P由在位于点O的车辆内部的处理器根据外部命令进行计算。通过命令,该地理篱笆的大小随着该地理篱笆的半径或有效半径r,r’的改变而变化。
在图2中,车辆1作为示例目的显示为一个起重机,该起重机配备有用于从GPS卫星2接收导航位置信号SL的GPS接收机1A、处理器1B以及沿着ST与中央控制中心站3进行通信和沿着SC接收来自中央控制中心站3的信号的通信调制解调器或连接器1C。图2和3的控制中心站沿着SC发送下面描述的用于控制软件编程处理器1B的多个命令,控制中心站也可以请求GPS卫星2(图2中的S)和/或GPS车载接收机1A发送公知车辆1的当前位置O的经度-纬度当前位置坐标。车辆1沿着ST将在该车辆上从该卫星接收到的当前(或新的)位置信息提供给该中心站3用于在其上登记。根据来自该中央控制站3的命令SC,车辆1确定其当前(新)位置或场所。
在该控制中心,做出一个决定,该决定是建立一个期望的,或者改变一个在其确定的当前(新)位置上的该车辆周围的地理篱笆,然后将命令信号SC发送到该车辆以建立一个新的地理篱笆,而且,最好同时指定该车载处理器1B将为该地理篱笆计算哪些新的参数。
在该车辆单元上收到这种命令之后,该车载处理器通过其内部软件及固化软件计算由该控制中心站选择的这些新的地理篱笆参数。在该车辆根据该GPS卫星确定其当前原点位置之后,通过编号表的公知使用,这些新的参数是可选择的---首先从图2的篱笆形状编号表T1中选取一个特定的几何图案或形状(圆、多边形等),然后从第二个预先准备的编号表T2中选择该形状的大小---例如,从该控制中心选择一个圆形的篱笆和选择一个半径,比如,2英里。这样的通信可以经由蜂窝电话信道或通过其它像VHF和UHF等的无线空中链路接口实现,其包括在1999年1月20日申请序列号为09/235,606、在2000年9月14日申请序列号为09/662,278和在1998年11月25日申请序列号为09/194,242的在共同审理中的美国专利申请所述的罗杰克公司的“一个电话”和“位置”系统。
在该车辆上以公知方式实现的内部固化软件-软件,没有像目前所做的从控制中心提供数据的必要性,其自身计算和建立地理篱笆和期望的变化,虽然受到上述和其它缺陷的影响,但是通过本发明的动态地理篱笆概念所有的缺陷都得到了克服。
在图4中显示了本发明应用的一个例子,该例子为位于波士顿的原点为O的车辆建立(远端右边)示范半径为二英里的第一个建立的地理篱笆。该车辆然后移动到伍斯特(O’),使用经度-纬度数据点P建立一个半径为五英里的地理篱笆,定义该圆形篱笆的该数据点P,如此前所述,由车载处理器根据在布伦特里的远程中央控制站的命令内部计算得到。一个补充的“求救”或警报信号在紧急情况下或在该车辆未授权驶出该建立的地理篱笆时,也示例地发送给该站。

Claims (16)
1、一种从远程控制中心控制内部配备有GPS接收机、软件执行处理器和多个通信连接器的车辆或其它可移动设备的动态地理篱笆的方法,包括:从所述控制中心发送一个命令给该车辆,以接收和发送其当前GPS位置点给该所述控制中心;在该控制中心预先确定在该车辆周围的地理篱笆的期望形状和大小,然后发送多个命令给该车辆以建立一个这样的地理篱笆;以及,通过运行所述软件以在该处理器上计算定义地理篱笆的所述期望形状和大小的边界的各个位置点的方式,在该处理器上响应所述多个命令,从而根据在所述车载处理器上计算的数据建立在当前车辆位置点周围的期望地理篱笆。
2、如权利要求1的方法,其中,该GPS位置点和该地理篱笆边界各个点由纬度和经度数值表示。
3、如权利要求2的方法,其中,所述形状选择为圆形或多边形的其中之一。
4、如权利要求3的方法,其中,所述多边形由近似一个圆的足够位置数据点形成。
5、如权利要求4的方法,其中,在建立地理篱笆时,该控制中心命令该车载处理器改变该地理篱笆的的半径或有效半径,从而相应地改变包含的区域。
6、如权利要求2的方法,其中,该控制中心和该车载处理器软件都配备有多个查询表,用于分别选择和数据计算执行该地理篱笆的所述形状和大小的两者或其中之一。
7、如权利要求2的方法,其中,该车辆启动其当前GPS位置读取操作和将该位置发送给该控制中心。
8、如权利要求2的方法,其中,该控制中心启动激活在该车辆上的GPS读取操作,以及这样读取的数据由该车辆传达给该控制中心。
9、用于从远程控制中心控制内部配备有GPS接收机、软件执行处理器和多个通信连接器的车辆或其它可移动设备的动态地理篱笆的设备,具有:用于从所述控制中心发送一个命令给该车辆以接收其当前GPS位置点和将该位置点发送给该控制中心的装置;用于在该控制中心预先确定在该车辆周围的地理篱笆的期望形状和大小的装置;用于将多个命令发送给该车辆以建立这样的地理篱笆的装置;以及,在该处理器上用于响应所述多个命令的软件,其中,该多个命令用于计算多个位置点,该多个位置点用于根据在所述车载处理器上计算的数据定义在当前车辆位置点周围的所述期望地理篱笆的边界。
10、如权利要求9的设备,其中,该GPS位置点和该地理篱笆边界各个点由纬度和经度数值表示。
11、如权利要求10的设备,其中,所述形状选择为圆形或多边形的其中之一。
12、如权利要求11的设备,其中,所述多边形由近似一个圆的足够位置数据点形成。
13、如权利要求12的设备,其中,在建立地理篱笆时,该控制中心配备有用于命令该车载处理器改变该地理篱笆的半径或“有效”半径的装置,以便相应地改变包含的区域。
14、如权利要求10的设备,其中,该控制中心和该车载处理器软件都配备有多个查询表,用于各自选择和数据计算执行该地理篱笆的所述形状和大小的两者或其中之一。
15、如权利要求10的设备,其中,该车辆配备有用于启动当前GPS位置读取操作和将该位置发送给该控制中心的装置。
16、如权利要求10的设备,其中,该控制中心配备有用于启动激活在该车辆上的GPS读取操作的装置,以及该车辆配备有将所述读取的数据发送给该控制中心的装置。
