具体实施方式

因为系统存储节目信息，所以能够确定是否在一个被限制的频道上显示出一个当前的或将来的节目。系统也可以确定一个节目是否落在一个被限制的额定值和/或内容，V-芯片(V-Chip)分级，或时间段内。所以，如果在一个预定要对诸节目进行录像的频道上安置一个锁闭，则将出现一个弹出菜单，该菜单对用户发出二者有冲突的警告。如果用户不顾弹出菜单，则弹出菜单将在三秒钟内消失，该频道将被锁闭，将在不需要一个口令的情况下进行录像，因为在锁闭起作用前已经设置了录像。一旦一个频到被锁闭了，一位用户不能调谐到那个频道，在那个频道上录像或购买在那个频道上的任何节目，除非用户输入正确的口令。然而，因为输入了正确的口令，用户可以预先安排诸将来的节目的录像时间。在预定录像的时间，系统可以使被锁闭的频道去锁闭，调谐到该频道，对在该频道上的节目进行录像。当节目结束时，系统会将该频道重新锁闭起来。
图2D是弹出菜单60的一个优先的实施例，当用户通过额定值和/或内容选择地对诸节目加以锁闭时，向一位用户显示该弹出菜单。如我们能够看到的，向用户显示了一个是通过额定值，一个是通过内容进行锁闭的两个列表。用户可以通过突出在弹出菜单上的相关的内容和/或额定值并按下选择键，通过内容和/或额定值进行锁闭。可以通过多于一种类型的内容和/或额定值锁闭诸节目。进一步，在弹出菜单60上的内容描述可以包括和由V-芯片提供的数据相对应的信息。可以将V-芯片的数据放在括号内，V-芯片的数据将指出节目的V-芯片属性分级。例如，内容类型“暴力”可以有相应的V-芯片属性轻微暴力(V2)，中等暴力(V3)等。当用户根据额定值对诸演出进行锁闭时，所有较高的额定值都被自动锁闭。由于为了严密起见不将诸演出内容列举出来，所以锁闭一个内容不会自动地锁闭任何其它的诸内容。
用户也可以锁闭诸规定的时间段，以便防止在那些时间段中观看电视。用户可以进一步规定锁闭的频度，例如，对于一个单独的日子，仅对于从星期一到星期五，仅对于周末，或对于该星期的每一天进行锁闭。图2E表示弹出菜单62，它要求用户输入应当防止观看电视的时间段。如图所示，用户可以规定开始锁闭的时间(缺省时间是下午2:30)，结束锁闭的时间(缺省时间是下午5点)，和锁闭的频度(缺省频度是单独的一天)。在用户事先已经设置了这些值的情形中，系统记住这些值，并当显示出弹出菜单62时将这些值显示出来。
如果企图在一个锁闭的时期中观看电视，则系统将使声音消失，并在整个电视屏幕上显示出一个蓝色的屏幕。将出现一个弹出菜单，要求输入主口令。当输入正确的口令时，全部蓝色的屏幕将消失，将能重新听到声音。如果将一个锁闭放在一个预定要对诸节目进行录像的时间段上，则将出现一个弹出菜单，对用户发出二者冲突的警告。如果用户不顾弹出菜单，弹出菜单将在三秒钟内消失，该频道将被锁闭，将在不需要一个口令的情况下进行录像，因为在锁闭起作用前已经设置了录像。然而，当锁闭时期进行预定的将来的录像将需要一个口令。
图2F表示弹出菜单64的一个优先的实施例，如果还没有建立起一个购买口令，且用户从控制观看的菜单66选择“设置诸IPPV支付界限”特征，则向一位用户显示弹出菜单64。IPPV代表敲击的每次观看付费，并与通过一个用户输入设备，例如，一个遥控器购买的诸PPV节目有关。这些IPPV节目不同于诸传统的PPV节目，诸传统的PPV节目要求用户打电话给节目供应商来购买节目。用户可以通过按下选择键或通过按下在用户输入设备上的该键，或者在电视时间安排指南上选择该键，从主菜单50建立起购买口令。图2G表示弹出菜单68的一个优先的实施例，如果已经建立起一个购买口令，和用户从控制观看的菜单66选择“设置诸IPPV支付界限”特征，则向一位用户显示弹出菜单68。在这种情形中，用户将简单地输入购买口令和按下选择键。如图2G所示，如果用户犯了一个错误，用户可以按下取消键和重新输入口令。
一旦已经建立起购买口令并将它输入时，用户将看到IPPV支付界限的弹出菜单70(如图2H所示)，并在系统要求一个口令以便实现购买前，用户可以输入IPPV支付应当被限制的美元总量。缺省支付量为零，在这种情形中，用户对于所有的购买都需要输入购买口令。在设置一个大于零的美元数量的地方，这个美元数量是在要求输入购买口令以便进行诸附加的购买前，用户可以花费的数量。为了设置这个数量，用户可以按下右箭头键，并且每次按下右箭头键时，将在这个界限上加上一美元。为了减少这个数量，用户可以用左箭头键。无论何时当想要的话，用户都可以用诸箭头键，重新设置美元数量。
为了访问一个被锁闭的节目，用户可以从主控制菜单54选择“解除所有的锁闭”特征，所有被锁闭的节目将被解除锁闭。另一方面，用户可以当在指南中的时，通过在一秒钟左右的时间内按下选择键，从电视时间安排信息指南解除所有的锁闭。将出现一个弹出菜单，和用户可以选择“解除所有的锁闭”。系统将要求用户输入主口令，由于输入了正确的口令，用户可以调谐到在所有可以利用的频道上的所有节目。当诸节目未被锁闭时，拔动“解除所有的锁闭”特征，并变成“重新实施所有的锁闭”特征，而且在诸指南中的诸灰色锁闭符号变成诸红色的解除了锁闭的符号。用户可以通过从主控制菜单54选择“重新实施所有的锁闭”，重新对所有的以前被锁闭的节目进行锁闭。关闭电视机也将自动地恢复所有的主锁闭。
另一方面，用户可以通过直接地调谐到或者来自电视机或者来自电视时间安排指南的诸节目，并输入正确的口令，使诸个别的节目解除锁闭。如果用户调谐到一个锁闭的频道，系统在电视屏幕上显示出一个蓝色的屏幕，并且使声音消失。将出现一个弹出菜单，要求输入主口令。如果提供了正确的口令，则系统移去蓝色屏幕并使声音恢复。然而，在这种情形中，当用户调谐离开一个以前被锁闭的频道时，主锁闭将自动地恢复。所以，如果用户调谐离开被锁闭的频道，然后再调谐回到该频道，则用户为了观看该被锁闭的频道，必须重新输入口令。
为了访问来自指南的诸个别的被锁闭的节目，用户可以通过在指南上突出它并按下选择键，选择用户想要观看的无论那一个被锁闭的节目。将出现一个口令弹出菜单。如果用户输入了正确的口令，则系统调谐到有想看的节目的频道。用户也可以按下选择键超过一秒钟，将出现一个弹出菜单，询问用户是否要调谐到锁闭的节目或对锁闭的节目进行录像。当用户已经作出了一个选择时，将出现口令弹出菜单，用户可以输入口令。在已经输入了正确的口令后，系统将或者调谐到被锁闭的节目或者对被锁闭的节目进行录像。代替按下选择键和选择在弹出菜单上的录像模式，用户也可以突出一个被锁闭的节目并按下REC键，要求对节目进行录像。当用户已经提供了正确的口令时，将进行录像。
图3说明了一个用于确定一位用户是否能够调谐到一个节目的过程流程图。在诸优先的实施例中，在这里描述的诸不同的过程是在软件控制下工作的，这种软件存储在一个计算机可读存储媒质中。在一个优先的实施例中，系统在步骤100已经检查了是否需要一个主口令。在步骤102，系统确定用户是否已经提供了正确的主口令。如果已经输入了正确的主口令，则在步骤104过程将检查节日是否是一个免费的事件。一个免费的事件是一个不是每次观看都要付钱的事件。如果事件是免费的，则系统将在步骤110调谐到该节目。如果事件不是免费的，则系统将在步骤106要求用户输入购买口令。在步骤108，验证输入的口令。如果口令是正确的，则系统将在步骤110调谐到该节目。对于两个验证的步骤102和108，如果提供了诸不正确的口令，则系统将不调谐到要求的节目。
图4说明了一个对于主控制特征工作的过程流程图。当一位用户打开电视机，或者调谐到一个节目或频道时，系统在步骤150检查在显示出(诸)节目前是否需要一个主口令。如果存在一个主口令，则在步骤152系统检查是否已经设置了一个盒锁闭。一个盒锁闭基本上是特殊的时间锁闭，因为它在每天，一天24小时内，都使电视机保持在锁闭状态。如果存在一个盒锁闭，则一个步骤154显示一个弹出菜单，通知电视观看者在电视观看者可以观看电视前需要一个口令，而且一个步骤172要求用户输入主口令。当用户提供了正确的口令时，用户可以在步骤168调谐到该节目，安排一个自动调谐计划，或者安排一个节目的录取计划。
如果还没有设置一个盒锁闭，则系统在步骤156检查诸频道的锁闭情况。如果不存在任何锁闭，则一个步骤158检查一个时间锁闭。如果存在一个时间锁闭，则一个步骤170检查当前的时间是否在诸被限制的时间范围内。如果用户企图在一个被限制的时间内观看电视，则在步骤172要求用户提供主口令。类似地，如果存在一个频道锁闭，和用户企图调谐到一个被锁闭的频道，则在步骤172要求用户提供口令。如果用户正在一个不被限制的时间里观看电视，则用户可以进行到步骤168并且可以调谐到该节目，录取该节目等。
如果还没有设置时间锁闭，则一个步骤160检查一个额定值/MPAA锁闭，因为诸额定值对应于由美国电影协会(Motion Picture of AmericaAssociation)设置的那些额定值。如果已经设置了一个额定值锁闭，则一个步骤164确定节目是否有一个被限制的额定值。如果有，则要求用户在步骤172提供主口令。在另一方面，如果没有额定值锁闭，则一个步骤162检查一个内容/属性锁闭。系统在步骤166检查节目是否包含被限制的内容，如果是，则要求用户在步骤172提供主口令。如果节目不包含被限制的内容，则一个步骤176进一步检查节目是否有一个V-芯片分级。如果有，则一个步骤178(详细情况如图7所示)确定用户是否企图获得对一个有诸被限制的V-芯片分级的节目的访问。
图5，它较详细地描述了步骤106，说明了一个对于主控制特征工作的过程流程图。当一位用户调谐到一个节目时，一个步骤200检查是否已经建立了一个购买口令。如果是，则一个步骤204检查是否已经超过了该界限。如果该界限已被超过，则步骤172要求购买口令；如果该界限没有被超过，则系统进行到步骤208实施购买过程。如果步骤200确定还没有建立起一个购买口令，则系统也将进行到步骤208实施购买过程。
图6，它较详细地描述了步骤172，说明了一个用于验证一个口令和限制一位用户尝试输入购买口令或主口令的次数的过程流程图。在步骤250，要求用户提供适用的口令。一个步骤252接收用户的输入，和一个步骤254检查口令是否有一个适当的格式。如果口令不适当，例如它有太多的字符，则一个步骤256显示一条消息，通知用户口令是非法的。重复步骤252，用户可以重新输入一个适当的口令。如图所示，如果口令因为不适当而被拒绝的话，则用户可以无数次地重新输入口令。
一旦用户已经输入了一个适当的口令，则一个步骤258验证输入的口令是否正确。如果是，则一个步骤260允许用户访问被锁闭的节目。然而，当输入的口令不正确时，一个步骤262跟踪用户企图输入一个不正确的口令的次数。一个步骤264将在步骤262的计数和数3比较。如果在步骤262的计数小于3，则一个步骤256显示非法口令的弹出菜单，用户可以在步骤252重新输入口令。如果用户已经企图输入一个正确口令的次数超过了3次，则一个步骤266显示出一个弹出菜单，通知那里的用户，他企图输入口令的次数已经太多了，和用户在企图再次输入口令前，必须等待15分钟。诸步骤268和270设置标志，并开始在允许用户重新输入一个口令前的15分钟的限制。
在一个优先的实施例中，使系统和电源断开将不能防止15分钟限制的发生；相反地，当系统重新和电源接通时，因为系统重新设置了15分钟的时间限制，所以用户将不得不等待较长的时间以便重新输入口令。系统限制用户企图输入正确口令的次数是3次，以便保证口令的安全性。因为优先地，一位未经受权的用户在每作了3次尝试后将必须等待至少15分钟，所以未经受权的用户就不大可能破解口令。
图7，它较详细地描述了步骤178，说明了一个用于确定一个节目是否有一个被限制的V-芯片分级，和是否应该允许用户访问该节目的过程流程图。因为V-芯片数据来自一个频道的视频流，一个确定一个节目是否有一个被限制的V-芯片分级的方法是首先调谐到访问该数据的频道。例如用户可以正在观看频道9，并希望调谐到频道3。参照图7，如果系统确定了在频道3上的节目有V-芯片分级，则一个步骤300保存频道9的视频和音量信息。系统在步骤302确定用户是否正在从TV屏幕或从指南内部改变诸频道，如果用户正在从TV屏幕改变诸频道，则一个步骤304将一个蓝色的屏幕放在整个电视屏幕上。
另一方面，在用户正在从指南内部改变诸频道的情形中，一个步骤306在指南周围加上一个蓝色的边框，以便划出不被指南复盖的诸屏幕部分。在步骤308，系统使声音消失，使用户不能听到节目。一个步骤310调谐到想要的频道，在这个例子中它是频道3，和一个步骤312从频道的视频流读出V-芯片数据。一个步骤314确定V-芯片分级是否是一个被限制的分级。如果不是，则用户可以调谐到频道3上的节目。然而，如果节目有一个被限制的V-芯片分级，则在步骤172要求用户提供主口令。一个步骤316检查用户是否已经提供了正确的主口令，如果是，则一个步骤318恢复频道的音量(在这种情形中，是频道3)。根据用户是否正在改变在TV屏幕内或指南内的诸频道，或者步骤324将移去由步骤304放入的蓝色屏幕，或者一个步骤322将清除指南和由步骤306加上的蓝色边框。如果在步骤316没有验证访问，则继续保持消声状态，并且在屏幕上继续保持蓝色屏幕或蓝色边框和指南。然而，用户可以试图访问其它的诸频道/诸节目，如果它们是不受限制的，就会将它们显示出来。
在另一个实施例中，系统不需要首先调谐到访问V-芯片数据的频道。因为V-芯片额定值数据可以被包含在数据流中，并以一种和关于节目标题，描述等的数据类似的方式被接收，所以系统可以预先接收V-芯片额定值数据，并将该数据存储在一个数据库中。在这个实施例中，因为系统可以简单地从数据库恢复数据，所以系统可以加上主控制而不必首先调谐到访问V-芯片数据的频道。参照图7的例子，当用户仍然在频道9中时，系统可以通过从数据库恢复关于频道3的节目的V-芯片数据信息，确定在频道3上的节目是否有V-芯片分级数据。在恢复了这个信息后，如果节目有V-芯片分级，则系统可以确定V-芯片分级是否是一个被限制的分级。如果是，则要求主口令，如果不是，则系统调谐到频道3的节目。于是，因为系统不需要首先调谐到该频道，所以这个实施例消除了系统进行消声和放上一个蓝色的屏幕或在指南周围加上一个蓝色的边框的需要。
图8说明了一个用于改变主控制或购买口令的过程流程图。一个步骤350要求口令，和一个步骤352接收用户的口令输入。一个步骤354检查口令是否有一个适当的格式。如果不是，则一个步骤356显示一个非法口令的弹出菜单，并且用户在步骤352可以不受次数限制地重新输入适当的口令。当输入的口令有适当的形式时，一个步骤358验证该口令确实是一个正确的口令。一个步骤360继续对一个不正确口令的输入次数进行计数。如诸步骤360和362所示，给用户三次输入一个正确的口令的机会。如果在经过三次尝试后，输入的口令仍然不正确，则一个步骤364显示一个“尝试过多”的弹出菜单。因为诸步骤366和368设置了标志并开始15分钟的限制，所以在系统允许任何再次尝试输入口令前，用户必须等待15分钟。
如果在步骤352用户提供了正确的口令，则在步骤370允许用户改变老的口令和输入一个新的口令。一个步骤372保证新口令有适当的形式，如果不，则一个步骤374显示一个非法口令的弹出菜单，并且用户在步骤370可以不受次数限制地重新输入一个适当的新口令。如果输入的新口令没有适当的形式，则在步骤376要求用户重新输入新口令，以便证实输入的新口令确实是想要的口令。在步骤378，系统将在步骤370输入的口令和在步骤376输入的口令进行比较。如果这两个口令是不同的，则在步骤376再次要求用户重新输入新口令，以便证实输入的新口令是想要的口令，并在步骤378再次比较诸输入的口令。
重复诸步骤376和378，直到在步骤376输入的口令和在步骤370输入的口令相匹配。或者，用户可以脱离该过程，在这种情形中，不改变口令。另一方面，在步骤378进行了它的比较后，如果口令370不同于口令376，则重复诸步骤370-378。这意味着用户在步骤370可以重新输入新的口令，以便保证在步骤370的输入是正确的，并在步骤376再次核实口令。步骤378将比较这两个口令。如果它们是一样的，则一个步骤380将老的口令改变到新的口令。

图10说明了一个用于移去主控制或购买口令的过程流程图。在步骤450，系统显示一个弹出菜单，该弹出菜单向用户解释如果用户移去了口令，则可以不受任何限制地观看所有的节目，并且系统询问用户是否希望继续进行。如果用户在步骤452决定继续进行，则一个步骤454要求用户输入口令。如果不输入口令，则用户脱离该过程。如果用户决定继续进行，则一个步骤456接收用户的输入，并且一个步骤458检查口令是否有一个适当的形式。如果没有，则一个步骤460显示一个非法口令的弹出菜单，并且用户在步骤456可以不受次数限制地重新输入一个适当的口令。如果输入的口令有适当的形式，则一个步骤462验证输入的口令确实是正确的口令。一个步骤464继续对一个不正确的口令的输入次数进行计数。
如诸步骤466，460和456所表示的，给用户三次尝试输入一个正确的口令的机会。在经过三次尝试后，如果输入的口令仍然不正确，则步骤468显示一个“尝试过多”的弹出菜单。因为诸步骤470和472设置了标志并开始15分钟的限制，所以在系统将允许任何再次尝试输入口令前，用户必须等待15分钟。如上所述，优先地用户不能通过断开系统的电源来防止发生15分钟的等待。如果用户在步骤462提供了正确的口令，则允许用户在步骤474移去口令。
上面的描述是说明性的而不是限制性的。本发明的诸变化对于那些熟练的技术人员来说，在看了本公布后将变得很明显。所以不用参照上面的描述来确定本发明的范畴，但是取而代之的是，应该参照所附的诸权利要求以及它们的和诸权利要求等价的全部范围，来确定本发明的范畴。

Claims (20)

1.一种对电视节目进行访问控制的方法，包括以下步骤：
存储第一口令；
输入使电视节目闭锁的标准；
在屏幕上显示多个电视节目列表；
选择所显示的列表之一用于记录；
如果与所选择的列表相对应的节目满足闭锁标准，则要求观看者输入第二口令；以及
如果观看者响应该要求而输入匹配第一口令的第二口令，对满足闭锁标准的所述节目解除闭锁以使其可被记录。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，所述输入标准的步骤包括：
在屏幕上显示标准的一个列表；以及
从所述标准的列表中选择要输入的标准。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，所述输入标准的步骤包括：
在屏幕上给观看者显示输入第三口令的提示；
如果观看者响应该提示而输入匹配第一口令的第三口令，在屏幕上显示标准的一个列表；
从所述标准的列表中选择要输入的标准；
在已输入该标准后，从屏幕上移除所述标准的列表；以及
在输入匹配第一口令的第三口令之前，阻止选择另一个标准。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，所述输入标准的步骤包括输入节目等级。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，所述输入标准的步骤包括输入频道标识。
6.根据权利要求5所述的方法，在所述在屏幕上显示多个电视节目列表的步骤之后，所述方法还包括在节目列表中的频道标识旁显示锁住符号的步骤。
7.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，所述输入标准的步骤包括输入时间持续期。
8.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，所述输入标准的步骤包括输入对付费收看节目的支付限制。
9.根据权利要求1所述的方法，还包括在与所选择的列表相对应的节目不符合闭锁标准时调谐到所述节目以便记录的步骤。
10.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，所述解除闭锁的步骤包括对所有节目解除闭锁的步骤。
11.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于，对所述节目解除闭锁的步骤包括：验证第二口令；以及如果进行了预定次数的不正确的第二口令输入，则在预定的时期阻止观看者输入第二口令。
12.一种父母控制系统，包括：
显示屏幕；
输入设备，用于输入第一口令和使电视节目闭锁的标准；
显示处理器，用于在所述屏幕上显示多个电视节目列表；
定位设备，用于选择所显示的列表之一用于记录；
弹出型窗口，用于在与所选择的列表相对应的节目满足闭锁标准时提示观看者输入第二口令；以及
处理器，用于在观看者输入匹配第一口令的第二口令时，对满足闭锁标准的所述节目解除闭锁以使其可被记录。
13.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其特征在于，如果观看者输入匹配第一口令的第三口令，所述显示处理器在屏幕上显示标准的一个列表，并处理从所述标准的列表中选择的一个标准。
14.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其特征在于，所述显示处理器在屏幕上显示标准的一个列表；以及，所述处理器处理从所述标准的列表中选择的一个标准，并在输入匹配第一口令的第三口令之前阻止选择另一个标准。
15.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其特征在于，所述输入设备输入节目等级作为标准。
16.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其特征在于，所述输入设备输入频道标识作为标准。
17.根据权利要求16所述的系统，其特征在于，所述显示处理器还在节目列表中的频道标识旁显示锁住符号。
18.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其特征在于，所述输入设备输入时间持续期作为标准。
19.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其特征在于，所述输入设备输入对付费收看节目的支付限制作为标准。
20.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其特征在于，所述处理器验证口令，并在进行了预定次数的不正确的口令输入的情况下，在预定的时期阻止观看者输入口令。
