Abstract

ABSTRACT
The present invention refers to a closure system (10) for disposable products, capable of being used several times with no damage to the product, wherein an adhesive film (16) is directly applied over the inner liquid permeable surface (14) of the product, on relatively opposite ends with relation to the longi-tudinal axis thereof, eliminating the use of strips, edges, projections or the like.

"C~OSURE SYSTEM FOR DISPOSABLE PRODUCTS"
The present invention refers to a closure system and, more specifically, to a suitable system for use in sanitary products, or other disposable products, such as disposable diapers.
Several means for fixation have been conven-tionally used to hold a product around the user's waist, such as adhesive edges, strips, tapes and the like.
Some of the usual problems in the closure means are their incapacity of being opened and closed many times without damage to the material.
Prior art fixation means generally consist in the use of the pressure adhesives applied to a supportlng material such as paper or fabric, and are coated with an anti-adherent material.
Such means are generally fixed on the rear portion of the product by half their length, the other half being loose to be fixed to the front portion of said product.
Other problems encountered in the habitually used fixation means are the inconvenience and difficulty in handling tapes and strips, besides their deficiency in fixation, thereby causing the product not to be suitably fixed and, consequently, leading to leakage.

~' Summary of the Invention One of the objectives of the present invention is to provide a closure system such that it does not need the use of any supporting material, thereby eliminating the use of edges, strips and the like, because the adhesive is directly applied to the diaper structure.
Another objective of this invention is to disclose a closure system which allows the diaper to be repetitively opened and closed with no damage to its panel.
Prior art problems are solved in the present invention by providing a closure system comprising an adhesive film, applied to a face of an element of said disposable product by one of its surfaces and provided with an anti-adherent material on its opposite surface, the opposite surface being capable of adhering to another region of the disposable product when the anti-adherent material is removed.
According to a further broad aspect of the present invention there is provided in a disposable absorbent product which comprises an impermeable backing sheet and a liquid permeable covering, the improvement in which the liquid permeable covering comprises a nonwoven web of fibers aggregated to a perforated plastic film. The plastic film is adapted to be heat sealable to the impermeable backing sheet.
According to a still further broad aspect of the present invention, there is provided a disposable absorbent product having a first end and a second end and comprising an impermeable backing sheet and a liquid permeable covering. The liquid ;~i permeable covering comprises a nonwoven web of :., .

~, , , "' ~ , 13~5291 - 2a -fibers aggregated to a perforated plastic film which is adapted to be heat sealable to the impermeable backing sheet. Closure means is secured to each corner of the product at at least one of the first and second ends.
The present invention will be herein described, based on the attached drawings in which:
- Fig. is a perspective view of a portion of a diaper showing the system of the present invention;
and - Fig. 2 is a sectional view along line A-A of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawings, it is disclosed a closure system 10 for the use in absorbent products having an impermeable backing sheet 12 and a '.;i 'B .

~,. 13~S291 liquid permeable covering 14.
Such covering 14 comprises a permeable non-woven web made out of fibres, for instance~ polyester, said web being aggregated to a plastic film which can be of polyethylene, said film being perforated after its aggregation in the same pattern of said non-woven web.
When heat is applied to the diaper itself, said covering is fixed to said plastic backing sheet due to the high thermo-sealing capacity of the poly-ethylene film, eliminating the use of adhesives.
After the thermo-sealing, said covering 14 and said sheet 12 become a resistant and flexiblè
panel suitable for receiving an adhesive film 16 in a portion of the internal face of the product, i.e., over the covering 14. Such system totally eliminates the use of adhesive tapes, edges and others, because the adhesive is laid directly on the body of the product.
Over this adhesive layer 16, an anti-adherent material 18 is laid. When it is desired that the product be fixed to the user, said anti-adherent material must be taken out, and the internal part of the panel, wherein said adhesive was applied, must be fixed to the outer plastic backing sheet on the oposite side of thé product.
The used adhesive is, preferrably, pressurc sensitive, acrylic type an aqueous emulsion whose main component is butyl polyacrylate, the addition of others , 13(;~S2~i acrylic compounds for obtaining different adhesive characteristics being possible.
Such adhesive allows the desired multisealing, i.e., repeatedly opening and closing of the product without tearing the panel structure.
Said adhesive is, preferrably, applied to the opposite upper ends with relation to the longitudi-nal axis of the product, over the covering 14.
Although, a preferential embodiment of the present invention has been described, the invention is not limited to this embodiment. Therefore the invention can be realized in a different way, for instance, by application of the adhesive in an anti-adherent surface and then transferred to the covering 14.
Said closure system will also be capable of being used in any other disposable products, besides dlapers, which needs an adhesive closure system, capable of being repeatedly openend and closed.
