La présente invention se rappor-te à une unité ou kit de conYersion destiné à réduire l'encombremen-t et à am~liorer la maniabilité de la p~upart des fusils ou carabines.
Il existe actuellement des kits réservés aux ~usils à pompe et à de rares carabines semi-automatiques ou,automatiques.
Ces dispositifs se composent învariablement d'une poignee-pistolet qui se fixe à l'arrière de la carcasse de l'arme en remplacement de la crosse de bois d'origine. Ladite poignée-pistolet es-t équipée d'une crosse-squelette métalli~ue qui peut se replier d'arrière en avant sur le coté ou au-dessus de l'arme. Un fusil équipé de l'un de ces kits présen~e les inconvénients suivants: (1) Lorsque la crosse est repliee l'arme ne peut être épaulée et son mauvais équilibre - tout le poids étant reporté à 1'avant - en rend ~ transport impossible quand elle est tenue d'une seule main par la poignée-pistolet, (2) En position de tir épaulé, crosse dépliée, la joue du tireur ne s'appuie que sur une mince surface métallique et l'ensemble manque de rigidité ce qui a pour effet d'accentuer considérablement le recul apparent:

J'ai découvert que ces inconvénien-ts pouvaient être supprimés ~out en conservant en permanence une compacité égale ou supé-rieure à celle des kits ordinaires en position "crosse repliée"~
Dans mon invention7 le k~t ne comporte pas de crosse pliante mais une très courte crosse rigide fixée directement a l'arrière de la carcasse de l'arme et une poignée-pistolet installée non plus à l'arrière mais sensiblement au point d'équilibre de l'arme. Ladite poi~née-pistolet oomporte sa propre détente et un relai intérieur qui en transmet le mouvement à la détente du fusil ou de la carabine,~la position de la poignée-pistolet a été étudiés de manière à localiser l'avant de sa détente à environ 13 1/2 pouces de l'arrière de la cro~se, une distance que l'on retrouve sur la plupart des armes d'épaule). Les avantages de cet-te disposi-tion sont évidents~ (1) L'arme peut etre transportée dans la même position qu'un pistolet ou un revolver prêt au tir, soit d'une seule main entourant la poignée-pistolet: (2) Dans le tir épaulé, trois ~acteurs assurent un meilleur controle du recul et du relèvement: a/ la joue du tireur prend a~pui sur une large surface arrondie, b/ l'ensemble est extremement rigide, c/ l'ame du canon se trouvant plus bas de près d'1 1/2 pouce que sur un modèle classique, la poussée exercée vers l'arrière au départ du coup s'effectue sensiblement en ligne droite par ~IE~OIRE DESCRIPTIF ~2) ~ ~J~566Z
