They ARE insured by the FDIC...  Anonymous - Sep 10, 2009 - Report this comment

This is directly from ING's website... Are deposits at ING DIRECT insured by the FDIC? ING DIRECT is a federally chartered bank insured by the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation). We are registered with the FDIC under the name of ING Bank, fsb, located in Wilmington, DE. ING DIRECT's FDIC certificate number is 35489. Currently, deposits are insured by the FDIC for up to $250,000 per depositor (the amount is scheduled to return to $100,000 effective January 1, 2014). A single account is insured up to $250,000. Joint accounts are insured up to $250,000 for each individual on the account, equaling $500,000 in total. See example An individual with multiple accounts can be insured up to a total of $500,000. So for example, if you have a single account as well as a joint account, you’ll be insured up to $250,000 for the single account and up to $250,000 per depositor on the joint account. See example IRA deposits at ING DIRECT are FDIC insured up to $250,000 per plan depositor. This includes all IRA Savings accounts and CDs combined within each Traditional and Roth Plan and is in addition to the $250,000 non-IRA FDIC insurance. See example

gadget & bank itself   - Elena Vitkin - Aug 18, 2009 - Report this comment

though i can't see the tips being very original, the most useful feature is that you are constantly reminded to do what you might know you need to be doing, but don't; on a side-note about the bank itself: I've been a customer since 2002 and absolutely love them; true, the rate has not been the best lately (except for their mortgage, i think it's the lowest Icourse 've seen), but the ease of use and straightforwardness of their products and service does NOT compare to any other bank! and the customer service is absolutely excellent: i had to call once about a complicated transaction and a live person picked up the phone on the second ring - no automated menu system! (and of course they resolved my question to my complete satisfaction promptly and very courteously) highly recommend to anybody

I have been a customer with ING Direct since July 14th, 2005. They are most definitely FDIC insured and if you visited www.ingdirect.com, you would see that it is noted on every page. I am excited to add this gadget to my homepage!

set up a direct deposit with a company that actually has a good rate. ING seems like it has all these cool tools to help you save - remember to save by yourself and go elsewhere for a good rate. ING hasn't had good rates in years.
