Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. operates in six business segments. The Poly Vinyl Chloride and Chemicals segment manufactures and sells vinyl chloride and caustic soda products. The Silicon segment manufactures and sells silicon products. The Functional Chemicals segment manufactures and sells cellulose derivatives, oval and silicon metals. The Semiconductor Silicon segment manufactures and sells semiconductor silicon products. The Electronic and Functional Materials segment manufactures and sells rare earth magnets, photoresist and synthetic quartz products. The Others Related segment provides resin processed products, exports technology and plant, imports and exports products, and conducts engineering works. As of March 31, 2012, the Company had 110 subsidiaries and 17 associated companies.
