Description
The Jean Coutu Group (PJC) Inc. (Jean Coutu Group) operates a network of 399 franchised stores located in the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario under the banners of PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique and PJC Jean Coutu Sante. It operates in three segments: franchising, generic drugs and an investment in associate Rite Aid, which operates in the United States. Within the franchising segment, it carries on the franchising activity under the banners of PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique, PJC Jean Coutu Sante and PJC Jean Coutu Sante Beaute, operates two distribution centers and coordinates other services. Within the generic drugs segment, it owns Pro Doc, a manufacturer of generic drugs whose revenues come from the sale of generic drugs to wholesalers and pharmacists. During the fiscal year March 3, 2012 (fiscal 2012), there were 20 store openings in the PJC network of franchised stores. The franchised store network retails pharmaceutical, para-pharmaceutical and other products.
