Description

Extendicare Inc. (Extendicare) is a provider of post-acute and long-term senior care services. The operation of the senior care centers and ancillary businesses is conducted by its subsidiaries. As of September 30, 2012, it was operating 243 senior care centers with capacity for 26,713 residents. The Company�s subsidiary, Extendicare Health Services, Inc. (EHSI), operates 158 senior care centers with capacity for 15,472 residents. EHSI offers a continuum of health care services, including nursing care, assisted living and related medical specialty services. Extendicare�s subsidiary, Extendicare (Canada) Inc. (ECI), operates 85 senior care centers, with capacity for 11,241 residents. Also, through its ParaMed Home Health Care division, ECI provides home health care in Ontario and Alberta. On October 1, 2012, two Kentucky skilled nursing centers (217 beds) had been leased to a third party. On July 1, 2012, the Company converted from an income trust structure to a corporate structure.
