EchoStar Corporation is a holding company. EchoStar Technologies segment designs, develops and distributes digital set-top boxes and related products and technology, including its Slingbox placeshifting technology, primarily for satellite television service providers, telecommunication and cable companies and, with respect to Slingboxes, directly to consumers via retail outlets. Its EchoStar Satellite Services segment uses 10 of its 11-owned and leased in-orbit satellites and related Federal Communications Commission licenses to lease capacity on a full-time and occasional-use basis primarily to DISH Network, and secondarily to Dish Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V., the United States Government service providers, state agencies, Internet service providers, programmers and private enterprise customers. Hughes segment provides satellite broadband Internet access to North American consumers and broadband network services and systems to the domestic and international enterprise markets.
