Description
Macarthur Coal Limited is an independent coal company engaged in the exploration, project evaluation and development, mining and marketing of metallurgical coal. It is a producer of seaborne low volatile pulverized coal injection (LV PCI) coal, which is used for steel making. It operates in three segments: Production, Development and Exploration and evaluation. Production includes operating mines at Coppabella and Moorvale for the commercial production of low volatile pulverized coal injection (LV PCI), coking and thermal coal. Development relates to Middlemount Mine development project, which will produce PCI and semi-hard coking coal. On June 30, 2011, the Company completed the partial disposal of the Codrilla project. The Company holds an 85% interest in the project through its participation in the Bowen Basin Joint Venture. In December 2011, Peabody Energy Corporation announced that PEAMCoal Pty Ltd completed the acquisition of the Company.
