Ivanhoe Australia Limited is engaged in mineral development and exploration. The Company operates in three segments: Melbourne; Cloncurry, Queensland, and Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. The Melbourne office segment provides administration support and is responsible for the treasury function and the managing of investments in Exco Resources Limited and Emmerson Resources Limited. The Cloncurry segment located in Queensland, Australia undertakes mineral development and exploration on the Company�s mining leases and exploration tenements. The Tennant Creek segment activities relate to the exploration of the mining leases and exploration tenements in connection with the Emmerson Resources Limited joint venture agreement. As at December 31, 2011, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. owned 59% of Ivanhoe Australia. On March 7, 2012, the Company commenced its production of copper and gold concentrate at the Osborne facilities.
