Central Vermont Public Service Corporation is an electric utility in Vermont. The Company engages principally in the purchase, production, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity. It serves approximately 160,000 customers in 163 towns, villages and cities in Vermont. Its Vermont utility operation is its core business. It generates its revenues through retail electricity sales. Its wholly owned subsidiaries include C.V. Realty, Inc., a real estate company that owns, buys, sells and leases real and personal property and interests therein related to the utility business; Central Vermont Public Service Corporation - East Barnet Hydroelectric, Inc. (East Barnet), which finance and construct a hydroelectric facility in Vermont, and Catamount Resources Corporation (CRC) was formed to hold its investments in unregulated business opportunities. On September 1, 2011, it acquired Vermont Marble Power Division of Omya, Inc. On August 1, 2011, it acquired Readsboro Electric Department.
