BASF Corporation, the North American subsidiary of the world's largest chemicals company, BASF SE, makes nearly every chemical under the sun. Like its German parent, it manufactures ingredients for several markets: chemicals (inorganics, petrochemicals, and intermediate products), plastics (engineering plastics, foams, and polyurethanes), performance products (paper, personal care, and pharma chemicals), functional solutions (catalysts, industrial coatings, and construction chemicals), and agricultural (fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides). In 2012 it added a battery materials unit to its BASF Catalysts division. BASF Corporation is responsible for about a fifth of BASF SE's total sales.
