Amazon.de, virtually launched in 1998, is the German arm of Seattle-based online book giant Amazon.com. The Internet retailer and other third-party sellers offer new and used books, CDs, video games, and DVDs and DVD rental. Its online catalog also lists an array of other goods: apparel, shoes, jewelry, home and garden products, consumer electronics, toys and games, software, and computer supplies. Amazon.de is one of about half a dozen international Web sites (others include Canada, China, France, Japan, and the UK) operated by Amazon affiliates. It is also the trading name for other subsidiaries of the parent: Amazon.com Int'l Sales, Inc., and Amazon.com International Auctions, Inc.
