Deutsche BP helps fuel Germany's economy (not to mention its vehicles). The BP subsidiary carries out a variety of oil and gas activities throughout the country, namely the operation of 2,500 filling stations (its BP and Aral brands represent 22% of the market). Deutsche BP is also the country's second largest oil refiner, with five facilities that produce oil products for sale across Europe (under the BP, Aral, and Castrol brands). Its refining operations fall under Ruhr Oel, a joint venture with Petr�leos de Venezuela. The company additionally engages in gas and power trading as part of BP's European gas-and-power business.
