Evonik Corporation (formerly Evonik Degussa Corp.) is the North American arm of German chemical giant, Evonik Degussa GmbH. Like its parent, it operates through six divisions, the biggest of which are Industrial Chemicals (chlorides and peroxides) and Inorganic Materials (silicon products and carbon black). The other units are Consumer Specialties, Health and Nutrition, Coatings and Additives, and Performance Polymers. Products range from amino acids and building protection coatings to another of its specialties, specialty acrylic products including its best known brand, Plexiglas. In addition to the automotive industry, Evonik serves makers of coatings, pharmaceuticals, and plastics.
