It owns about ten venues in London, including The Jazz Cafe, The Garage, HMV Forum, Heaven, and The Borderline, and promotes such events as the Global Gathering, Lovebox, and The Great Escape. Mean Fiddler was founded as a single live-music club in 1982 by entrepreneur Vince Power. The company takes its name from Power's first venue, the Mean Fiddler, located in the Harlesden area of northwest London. Today Mean Fiddler Music Group operates as a subsidiary of MAMA Group, itself part of British-owned global entertainment retail chain HMV Group.
