The wealthy resort town of Hilton Head, South Carolina deserves a boutique-style telecom company. Hargray Communications offers fixed-line local and long-distance telephone service, high-definition digital cable television, Internet service, and security systems (with local electric coop Palmetto Electric) to about 30,000 residential and business customers. Wireless phone plans are offered through Cricket Communications. The company also publishes the Hargray Yellow Pages for a dozen communities in South Carolina. Leroy Harvey Sr. founded the company in 1947; the name is derived from his last name and his wife's maiden name, Gray. Hargray Communications was bought by Quadrangle Group in 2007.
