Hydro-Qu�bec gets its power by spinning its water wheels. The utility has 113,525 km of distribution lines and distributes electricity to approximately 4 million residential and commercial customers in Qu�bec. It generates more than 36,970 MW of capacity from 89 plants (60 hydroelectric). Some 97% of the company's power generation in 2012 came from renewable sources. The operator of one of North America's largest transmission networks (33,630 km), Hydro-Qu�bec also sells wholesale energy in the US and Canada. It also invests in alternative energy technologies and offers construction and procurement services.
