The Utah Department of Corrections supervises and manages the states convicted felons. It operates two prisons, Utah State Prison in Drapper and Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison, housing about 5,400 inmates. UDC also runs about 20 adult probation and parole centers located throughout the state. A significant part of the agency is Utah Correctional Industries, which includes about 25 business partnerships and training programs where inmates earn a small wage while working in CAD, printing, woodworking, and technical and vocational apprenticeships. UDC also manages the state's sex offender registry. A governor appointed executive director heads the agency, which has a budget of about $230 million.
