Uniroyal Engineered Products boasts a plethora of "pleather" (plastic/leather) products. The company, which also goes by Naugahyde Company, is the sole manufacturer of Naugahyde -- knit fabric backed by polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic coating. The company makes Naugahyde products for the automotive industry primarily, but also for hospitality, health care, marine, office, recreational vehicle, residential facility, and transportation industries. The Nauga name comes from Naugatuck, Connecticut, where the product was first made and trademarked in 1936. Formerly a division of the now-defunct Uniroyal Technology Corporation, Uniroyal Engineered Products was bought by private equity firm Five Points Partners.
