Sutton and East Surrey Water supplies water in southern England. The regulated utility distributes water to about 262,000 residential customers and some 17,000 businesses (a population about 654,000 people), in the London boroughs of Croydon, Merton, and Sutton, as well as in East Surrey and parts of Kent and Sussex. The utility provides 25 to 57 million gallons of water a day via more than 2,110 miles of water mains across its 835 sq. km. service area. It also has 60 pumping stations, about 40 reservoirs and water towers, and eight pumping stations. About 15% of its water supply comes from spring and rivers, while the bulk of supply is accessed via borehole pumps.
