The Scripps Clinic helps ensure that San Diego County, California is one of the healthiest places in the US. The health care organization, which is affiliated with the Scripps Health system, has about 400 member physicians. The Scripps Clinic operates about a dozen medical centers in the San Diego area, including its main Torrey Pines urgent care campus in La Jolla, which is attached to the Scripps Green Hospital. Clinic researchers also collaborate with colleagues from The Scripps Research Institute. Established in 1924 as the Scripps Metabolic Clinic by philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps, the clinic separated organizationally from the Scripps hospital chain in 1946. They rejoined their affiliation in 2000.
