BAE Systems Maritime - Naval Ships (formerly BVT Surface Fleet) has been shaping up ships for more than a hundred and fifty years. The company not only the makes ships, from offshore patrol vessels to giant aircraft carriers, for naval fleets, but also provides them with the combat systems -- anything from environmental data gathering equipment (EDGE) to panoramic area surveillance systems -- that turn them into naval ships. VT Group and BAE SYSTEMS merged their shipbuilding operations in 2008, forming BVT Surface Fleet. The following year BAE bought VT Group's interest in the company and later changed the company's name to BAE Systems Maritime - Naval Ships.
