Coop feeds Swiss shoppers' hunger for food, electronics, and more. The #2 Swiss retailer (after Migros), Coop produces and sells food and general merchandise through more than 1,900 stores, including supermarkets, hypermarkets, gas stations, convenience stores, and restaurants. The cooperative, which counts about 2.6 million member households, offers a portfolio of brands such as Naturaplan (organic food), Naturaline (textiles and cosmetics), Oecoplan (paper towels, appliances), and Max Havelaar (imported products). Coop also owns manufacturing operations, specialty retail chains, hotels, and a stake in a catering supplies company. Coop has been using acquisitions and joint ventures to catch up with Migros.
