NorthStar Healthcare Investors owns more than 60 senior housing and assisted-living facilities in about 14 states, including California, Illionois, Wisconsin, and Texas. The company operates under such names as Good Neighbor Care, Harmony, and Dominion, and has more than 3,800 beds/units. It primarily acquires private pay assisted living facilities, memory care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, independent living housing for seniors, and continuing care retirement communities. NorthStar Healthcare Investors, a subsidiary of NorthStar Realty Finance, filed to go public in late 2009 and plans to qualify as a REIT (real estate investment trust). It will be managed by NRF Healthcare Management.
