Distrigas trades natural gas in Western Europe. The company's main activities include natural gas sales and trading (arbitrage); transit sales (carrying gas from border to border) and international transport and trade; and liquefied natural gas trade and shipping. Distrigas mainly sells natural gas to three types of customers -- distribution companies and resellers, industrial consumers, and power producers. Italian energy giant Eni owns 99% of Distrigas following a staged takeover of the company in 2008 and 2009. SUEZ had owned a majority share of Distrigas until 2008.
