Arianespace, the world's leading satellite launch company, is a private European commercial space consortium that has launched more than 260 satellites using its Ariane launch vehicles. Satellite operators and telecom customers that use Arianespace services include NASA and AT&T in the US, France Telecom and Inmarsat in Europe, and Singapore Telecom and NTT DoCoMo in Asia. Satellite makers -- including Boeing Satellite Systems, Lockheed Martin Space Systems, and Mitsubishi Electric -- are also among its customers. Arianespace was formed in 1980 and is controlled by about 23 corporations, primarily aerospace firms and government space agencies.
