The Endangered Species Program reviews the safety net provided for animals under the Endangered Species Act. Part of the Department of the Interior, the program comprises a committee of the Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary of the Army, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Secretary of the Interior, Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and a representative from each affected state (appointed by the president). Perhaps better known as the "God Squad," it reviews requests for and grants exemptions to the act, and specifies mitigation and enhancement measures that would prevent harm to an endangered species.
