VisionQuest National aims to straighten out juvenile offenders through programs centered on outdoor and wilderness challenges. The company's treatment approach included a focus on education and counseling, complemented with an emphasis on nature, physical fitness, and cultural history. It also includes Native American values and ceremonies; a vision quest is a Plains Indian coming of age rite. VisionQuest has programs in Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania. Chairman Bob Burton founded the company with Steve Rogers in 1973 (both are ex-corrections employees). VisionQuest is employee-owned.
