Golf Town may be driving its way to a town near you. Canada's largest golf retailer, Golf Town operates more than 50 big-box stores across Canada and a half-a-dozen stores in the US (mostly in Boston) that sell brand name golfing equipment, accessories, apparel, and footwear. Major brands sold include Ping, Titleist, TaylorMade, and Callaway; the company also sells proprietary merchandise and offers golf lessons and equipment repair services. Founded in 1999, Golf Town is owned by Canadian investment firm OMERS Private Equity, which has owned the retailer since 2007. In mid-2012, Golf Town expanded its US presence after agreeing to acquire Austin-based Golfsmith for $96.8 million.
