The Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII) oversees a couple dozen grants that foster innovation in parental options, education improvement, educational technology, and teacher quality. Grant recipients include Arts in Education, the National Writing Project, Women's Educational Equity, and Excellence in Economic Education. OII also implements and coordinates the public school choice and supplemental education services parts of No Child Left Behind and acts as a liaison between the Department of Education and the private education groups.
