The company provides basic cable service to more than 6 million customers, including about 3 million digital cable subscribers and 3.5 million Internet access subscribers in 15 states, making it the third-largest US cable company, behind Comcast and Time Warner Cable. Cox also provides telephone service as a competitive local-exchange carrier (CLEC). In addition, Cox offers voice and data communications services to businesses and has investments in television programming and broadband technology companies. Cox Communications is a subsidiary of media conglomerate Cox Enterprises.
