Inspire Pharmaceuticals doesn't want to leave a dry eye in the house. The company targets treatments for various ocular diseases. Inspire Pharmaceuticals markets two North American eye products, AzaSite (licensed from InSite Vision), which treats bacterial conjunctivitis (eye infections), and Elestat for allergic conjunctivitis (developed and marketed in collaboration with Allergan). The company is also working to find additional applications for AzaSite. The company also sells treatments for dry eye in Japan and the US through licensing agreements. Inspire Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Merck in 2011.
