The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Regulation and Enforcement or BOEMRE (formerly Minerals Management Service) is just gushing with business. A unit of the Department of the Interior, BOEMRE manages US natural gas, oil, and other mineral resources on the outer continental shelf (submerged lands, subsoil, and seabed lying between states' seaward jurisdiction and the seaward extent of federal jurisdiction). Its services are split between offshore minerals management (outer continental shelf resources in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Pacific Ocean) and minerals revenue management (operationally based in Denver, Colorado).
