By bus and by train, people arrive at work, home, and other places via Arriva. The company competes with FirstGroup and Stagecoach to rank as one of the largest bus and rail operators in the UK. Its fleet, deployed in several regions, consists of more than 6,000 vehicles, including about 1,700 that operate in London. The company's UK rail franchises, including the CrossCountry network, comprise about 400 train sets. Outside the UK, Arriva operates about 10,000 buses and more than 200 train sets across 11 European countries. In all, Arriva's total of more than 16,000 buses, 600+ train sets, and some 100 trams annually provide more than 1.5 billion passenger journeys. In 2010 Deutsche Bahn took over Arriva.
