Florida's Department of Military Affairs (DMA) helps the Florida National Guard meet its responsibilities to state and federal authorities. The state agency provides management oversight and administrative support to the state's National Guard, operating within the policy guidance and fiscal framework of state and federal authorities. Under the direction of the Governor, the Florida National Guard provides assistance to state and local authorities in times of public need or crisis and supports the state's drug intervention activities, in addition supporting national defense. The DMA also provides advocacy services within state government for members of Florida's reserve and National Guard and their families.
