If you've washed, shaved, and groomed, then you've probably shared a chemical experience with the folks at International Specialty Products (ISP). The company, also called ISP Chemco, makes about 400 types of specialty chemicals, including food and pharmaceutical ingredients, personal care and fine chemicals, industrial chemicals, and minerals products. ISP also makes waterproofing agents, moisturizers, and preservatives for personal care products such as sunscreen and hair care products. The company operates in 90 countries throughout the Americas, Asia, and Europe. The family of ISP's late chairman, Samuel Heyman, controls the company. ISP agreed to be acquired by Ashland Inc. for $3.2 billion in 2011.
