Students at Boston College (BC) get both academic excellence and the Red Sox. Located six miles from downtown Boston, the university enrolls more than 14,600 full- and part-time students (about a third of whom are graduate students) from every state in the US and 80 countries. It has a student-teacher ratio of 14:1. Founded in 1863, BC offers degrees in more than 55 fields of study through its schools and colleges on four campuses. The university also has more than 20 research centers, including the Institute for Scientific Research, and the Center for International Higher Education. BC is one of the oldest Jesuit Catholic universities in the nation and has the largest Jesuit community in the world.
