Those afraid of needles need not apply. The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) offers more than 100 medical and dental degree and certificate programs through eight schools on five campuses throughout the state. Schools include those dedicated to nursing, public health, biomedical sciences, and osteopathic medicine. UMDNJ also owns and operates a hospital and a behavioral care facility and has affiliations with more than 200 state hospitals and health care systems. Founded in 1970, the institution is the largest health sciences school in the US; it has an enrollment of more than 6,500 students. It has agreed to merge with Rutgers.
