The Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) oversees the state's prisons and work-release centers and provides rehabilitation and support services for the incarcerated and their families. Inmate programs include job training, substance abuse programs, anger management classes, and college courses. A voluntary boot camp offers male and female first-time offenders opportunities for personal growth through military discipline. Qualifying inmates help encourage others to stay on the straight and narrow path by speaking to schools, church groups, and other organizations. ADC is led by seven governor-appointed board members.
