A modern-day lord of the rings -- that's one way to describe Firth Rixson. The company's Rings Division supplies seamless rolled rings that range in size from four inches to 200 inches in diameter. Its Forgings Division makes metal products for rugged applications. The Metals Division provides superalloys for high-temperature gas turbines and other applications. The company serves markets that include aerospace (about 72% of sales), power generation, defense, civilian nuclear, and fuel exploration in more than 40 countries. In 2007 Oak Hill Capital Partners acquired Firth Rixson from The Carlyle Group and Lehman Brothers for about $2 billion to further beef up its interests in the global aerospace industry.
