East Nippon Expressway (NEXCO-East) is expressly committed to getting drivers where they need to go. The company provides toll-road services, highway maintenance, and new highway construction in the areas of the Tokyo metropolitan area as well as Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, and the Niigata and Toyama provinces of Japan. Its highway network covers about 2,100 miles. Formerly known as Japan Highway Public Corp., NEXCO-East was privatized in 2005 alongside two regional sister companies -- West Nippon Expressway and Central Nippon Expressway. NEXCO-East diversified its operations by selling lunchboxes with to-go meals at its roadside expressway stops as well as operating bed-and-breakfast hotels.
