The state of most people's pantries is anything but golden. Founded as a single convenience store in Athens, Georgia, in 1965, Golden Pantry Food Stores operates a chain of more than 50 gas station/convenience stores throughout the state of Georgia. About a third of the stores house a Mimi's Deli, which serves breakfast featuring home made biscuits, as well as lunch and dinner take-out fare. Approximately half of the company's revenue comes from branded gasoline sales. Founder and chairman Calvin T. "Tom" Griffith formed the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores in 1974.
