Founded in 1914 when Cloid Smith and his son Howard set up shop in their basement, the American Pop Corn Company still makes the traditional American treat in bagged, unpopped kernel form for the purists among us. For those with less time than purists, it makes microwave popcorn in lots of varieties and flavors. American's brands include AMERICAN'S BEST (kernals) and Jolly Time (microwave and kernals). The family-owned company is run by Carlton (chairman) and Garrett (president) Smith, the great-grandsons of Cloid. Jolly Time popcorn is distributed throughout the US and overseas.
