It only seems natural that the Big Apple would have a big football team. New York Football Giants owns and operates the New York Giants professional football team, one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the National Football League. Started in 1925, the team has played for the league championship a record 19 times, winning eight titles including four Super Bowl championships. The Giants roster has included such Hall of Fame players as Frank Gifford, Sam Huff, Lawrence Taylor, and Y.A. Tittle. The team plays host at New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey, which it shares with the New York Jets. Tim Mara paid $500 to found the franchise; the Mara and Tisch families continue to control the team.
